The one time i think i can track back a food illness was in in a 
recommended Sushi place in Tokyo where i noted the dirty fingernails
of the chef only when it was too late.  I would never blame the fish. 
It is all a fault of starbucks coffee failing as a morning after pill.

Seriously: in the past, it was good enough to follow traveller
advise to avoid uncooked foods & drinks, use bottled water etc.

Alas, with the the great hygiene standards in western countries
and the resulting consumer lazyness and trends for paelo and raw food,
the biggest problems are now hitting at home with vegetables.

Hmm...  The sake didn't help as a desinfectant either. Not enough proof. 
Maybe some Suntory would have done the trick.
