A pandemic might mean something for a configuration built to the architecture.

But if the architecture is lacking then it wasn’t a very good architecture to begin with.  ;-)

There is a distinction between architecture and ‘buildings’ built to that architecture.  Particular constructions can always have problems. Architecture does not guarantee that the builders don’t make mistakes.
