During the meeting, there was a call for more transparency, and co-chair Tim strongly agreed with it.

Please strongly consider reversing those two steps: discuss the way forward with the WG, *then* contact the authors (who should be following the WG anyway...). In the unlikely-but-possible case where the WG wants to move forward on a draft and none of the current authors want to do so, the chairs can ask the list for new volunteer editors.
