Plenty of ISP home routers support (2). I know AT&T's does.
CableLabs had tried to push for some standardized behavior around
this in homenet (which, IMO, was overly complex in what it was doing. 
But there wasn't enough interest -- everyone was
focused on HNCP or bust.
