I would really like to see this as well. Isn't that partly what the IRTF
samrg is looking into? Or at least I've been hoping.

Someone has implemented something a bit like this, making an ASM
application work with only SSM. On Linux with LD_PRELOAD this could be
done without modifying the binary.
