  * Good on you for denigrating my Nomcom chair stint... didn't really need to be done I think

I wasn’t denigrating your service as Chair, I was pointing out that it’s old and perhaps outdated. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings, that really wasn’t my intent. I could have phrased it better. For example, for at least the past three years (the horizon of my visibility), the Chair made an effort to give every voting member a chance to speak, even if they said they had nothing to add.

  * Try and extend this for more than one special class and see how quickly it becomes unwieldy.

I am not interested in doing that. I will agree that that having multiple special classes would be a problem, but I don’t see a need to go there. As Paul and others have pointed out, drawing a principle and saying it should be discussed and analyzed is often used as a way to derail action. I am sure you are not intending to do that, but you are opposed to this specific action, so … maybe?

I went through the voting volunteer list for all nomcoms since 2003. To do this, go to the general nomcom page[1] and you can see each chair and a link to their announcements. Scanning each for the notice of who is on the volunteer list is pretty simple. I did an informal survey, and based on what I knew, or could easily determine by a google search, between three to six committees had no women.
