Hello Juliusz,

I have to confess that my vision has never been very specific.  Our 
implementations did require kernel modifications.  My best answer is 
that during those years we let our implementation experience guide our 
continuing protocol design, and we prioritized making the best 
specification language for the requested and desired features.   I 
should have kept a better log of the implementations, but there were 
several projects doing related work.
