[Raju] I have used websockets and no, I did not see UTF-16 on wire. Further, after going thru websocket API spec http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-websockets-20110419/ , which does have same send(DOMString) API call, I realized that browsers are very well doing this conversion already in other areas. Later, Randell Jesup also comfirmed this for Firefox. So, no concerns on this. Thanks!
