Richard, Francois and all,

Francois, thanks for your proposal.

If I understood the proposal by Francois correctly, you did not propose to use OSP itself, but using the common data type definitions (format and codes) defined in OSP. Therefore the problems Richard mentioned in OSP should not apply to this case. I'm correct?

What others think?

Of course, providers can use this kind of mechanims for whatever they like and I don't want to enter that discussion. I just want to point out that we need something if we want to provide access to value added services that are billed by the caller's operator.

regards,

- Klaus -

You might think that and Alan Johnston did some work on this in SIPPING but it seems no one cares...plus there are real issues of wether OSP can scale to the number of transactions necessary to support this kind of thing.

Boys and Girls ... in case you had not heard transaction pricing for voice is not all that popular among consumers these days.

Transaction or distance based pricing for communications has not been popular since the establishment of the penny post in the UK in the 1800's.

Klaus,

I've always thought we could put some Open Settlement Protocol XML data in a SIP invite.
