Don’t buy it. The code points only *represent* the characters when used
within computer-processable text. When they are discussed in documents such
as this, they are the code points *assigned to* the characters.  One
previous contributor to this discussion (sorry, can’t find it on a glance
through the thread) forced us to take a really careful look at this
terminology and I think where we’ve ended up is good.
