Fred,

Regardless of whether the path forward is - via a WG or via independent
submission, I believe that a 5050.Bis
(or whatever the result is called) should *bundle* - pardon the
unintentional pun - or otherwise coalesce
(the content and "fixes" to):

o RFC 5050 Bundle Protocol Specification
o Streamlined Bundle Security Protocol (SBSP)
                                        and
o Bundle in Bundle Encapsulation (still an I-D?)

into a SINGLE, comprehensive bundle specification document. This will help
to ensure any tweaks/fixes to the
existing RFC-5050 will be addressed more holistically. For sake of
completeness, I'd add the content of RFC 6260
(Compressed Bundle Header Encoding) and the existing UDP and TCP
convergence layers to that list.

The effort starts with a melding of the existing content, and continues
with whatever tweaks/modifications that are
deemed appropriate/desirable for advancing the documented flavor of DTN.

And since I'm rudely suggesting things, may I inquire as to why this needs
to wait?

The ground-work for preparing the existing documentation can begin *now*
within the existing infrastructure of the
DTNRG. This provides almost 3 months of lead-time and momentum (and
demonstration of energy/commitment) going
into a DTN BoF.

Apologies and Regards,

Eric
