Hi,

IMO the only thing BGP needs to do is to enable it in the socket. BGP is
not getting any USER TIMEOUT expired which in turn forces it to do any
actions in respect to the connection. TCP handles it and TCP closes the
connection. BGP can treat it as any other case of TCP closing connection.
It may syslog it with a nice message.

At least this is how I read RFC5482.
