Thanks Justus for doing the leg work. I see there's been
some more comment in gitlab too.

Once the text of the MR has settled down can you send
another message to the list to let folks who've not had
a look know that it's time to do so. (It's fine if minor
wordsmithing isn't complete when you do that.)

It'd be good to bottom out on this by the middle of next
week, so please do all send mail as to your position on
this topic/MR [1] before Feb 22nd. (IOW, say if you do
or don't want to make this change.)

I figure that requires the text of the MR to be stable
on or before Monday, and gives others a day or so to
express their opinions. Sorry if that timeline discommodes
anyone, but I don't think we want to be adding a week more
delay for any change at this point. (And it's been debated a
bit on the list already, so those following along probably
do already know their own positions:-)
