Wes: Obviously, you can not use such a random point of
reference. This is like oh, Fahrenheit operated to find 0. And how
the heck could you go for something from a German anyhow
(and keep it for hundreds of years unchanged).

Obviouosly the point of reference needs to be a universal constants
of the IETF universe. Hence the size of documents needs to be measured
relative to rfc8200.
