Nick,

I wish I could move back time and present current ideas 10 years back.

But just for the record the idea for Wide Communities was first born in
2010 after Hannes and I + bunch of contributors listed in section 8 and 9
had a bunch of discussions with folks tired about current manual way of
managing common policies in BGP. Handling v6 and 4 octet AS was there in
the draft day one.
