There are ancillary services associated with 2.0.0.2.ip6.arpa which are provided by APNIC under the auspices of RFC5158.

I just want to confirm to people that irrespective of this proposed change, APNIC intends to continue to provide reverse-DNS delegation, until its clear the community at large doesn't require the service.

Should de-delegation of the space be intended, can I please suggest that this is done via an instruction in dnsop which re-delegates to the AS112 service, since there exists a substantial volume of reverse-DNS in 6to4 already, and having it delegated removes this NXDOMAIN load from the root.

This traffic exists as a consequence of packets being seen to come from 2002::/16 source IP. It is not actually necessary for a complete end-to-end exchange to run to completion for the DNS lookup to happen (consider firewall/ACL rules with logging) And so will continue even if the protocol itself is deprecated, for some time.
