Hi Zafar,

You’ve sent this to the entire mailing list, not just the chairs.

It is very clear: the scope of the poll is clearly called out in the text:

> The MPLS Network Actions (MNA) framework requires a method of indicating
> the presence of a Network Action and any Ancillary Data.
>
> Is the consensus of the working group that we do this by:

The scope is MNA.

That said, the rationale that most people would seem to subscribe to is more general. Thus, if it is a bad idea to repurpose an SPL for MNA, it’s equally bad idea to repurpose an SPL for other functions too.

I don’t understand Bruno’s question about applicability to his draft. That draft is one of the solutions to MNA that the WG is considering and so yes, it applies to that draft.

The consensus from the poll is very clear: Bruno’s draft is a bad idea. Jags’ draft has several alternatives for SPLs. The alternative that suggests reusing an SPL is a bad idea.

I’m sorry that it’s not to your liking, but this is reality. More polling is not going to change this result and will only waste time.

Tony
