Hi Tony,

Merging is great and clear authors list is necessary. I haven’t seen any clue that the current authors are not able to handle this well, especially they have started to work together.
If WG has any specific proposal, it could be discussed in the ML. If they need any further help from WG, I believe they will ask.

Best
Xuesong

Hi Greg,

I agree that Jeffery has quite rich experience in BIER WG and participates in ML discussions actively. However, I still think the answer of “who should be the author of the document” depends mostly on “who raises the idea and brings it to IETF”. This is a basic respect for the originality of the author.

Xuesong, fully acknowledged and originality of ideas overrides all other considerations and has to be documented clearly IME. Nevertheless, IME as well, merged drafts (a very good thing here) benefit from clear author list and editorship, the earlier in the process the better lest too many feelings are hurt and unseemly wrangling ensues later. Especially, since AFAIS this one ends up being read a lot no matter its status or whether it really standardizes anything on the wire.
