During the POISED meeting on Monday and in separate
corridor conversations, both Paul and other IESG
members indicated how valuable it would be to have
one or two knowledgeable support staff provided to
assist IESG members in their work. The IAB Executive
Director and the IAB Chair also indicated the
desire to have "part-time" support for the IAB of
one person.

In email exchanges with the Society's Executive
Committee, there was very positive reaction and
willingness to proceed as soon as feasible with
providing such support. This would proceed under
the pledge to provide support to the IETF.

On this basis, it would seem the next step is for the
IESG to request that ISOC provide two support staff
and associated office support from the Society,
and to provide some criteria for advertising and hiring
such staff. We would expect that the IESG be fully
engaged in the selection process, as these would be
staff to support your needs. You might also indicated
if you would be willing to share those support staff
in some small measure with the IAB.

cordially,
