You may recall that I wrote draft-lear-we-gotta-stop-meeting-like-this.  
In that draft, I didn't suggest not meeting, but I did suggest 
substituting one meeting with several alternatives.

Then, Kapow <picture Batman words appearing in the air>. The pandemic 
hit, and All Of That was overtaken by events.

I do appreciate that Jay and the team have done what they could to 
address carbon offsets.  I still think we should do more.  And Daniel 
has tried to take these ideas forward in other work.

To get it right we really need good data on where everyone is coming 
from, and what working groups they attend.  I think we have a better 
handle on that now than we did pre-pandemic, and it may be worth another 
shot to look at what WGs hold affinities with one another, and whether 
they could group interims together rather than attending a plenary.  The 
benefit might also be increased f2f WG time.  This is just one idea; the 
data might lead us to others.
