Well. There are perhaps some direct flights to some asian destinations from
JFK or Dulles, and so anyone that is a simple hop to JFK/Dulles probably is
in a better situation than me.   But, probably most people transitted through
LA if they started further east, and I've been told that it's a pain, but
I've never changed planes there.

Ottawa has a general lack of competition, and I generally take the train to
Montreal to catch a european airline.  In this case, all flight paths went
over the pacific, and starting from Montreal was not a win.  I also could not
book until Feb.6 due to contract issues.  I could have had a cheaper flight had I
booked in November, but it wouldn't have been any more comfortable.
Also, I hate Air Canada. Internationally, meh.  Domestically, terrible.
And I have to travel domestically to get to vancouver or even LA.
