That's widely accepted and oft-repeated, but I have my doubts. 
Personally, I find it far easier to cope with being too hot than too 
cold (except when trying to sleep, and then a cold room and warm 
blanket is good).  I suspect it has to do with how much fat one has, 
and one's internal metabolism.

Hah!  I find long overnight flights are invariably way too hot.  Most 
get positively broasting.  I'm always overheated on planes, but too 
cold in meeting rooms.  More proof that someone is always unhappy 
with the temperature :-)

Those blankets are viral vectors and often encrusted with baby vomit, 
snot, and foot grime.  Unless wrapped in plastic, or one is engaging 
in an immune-response challenge, stay away.
