If some devices require IPv4 and the administrator implemented
ethertype filtering, blocking IPv4 packets on that LAN segment, you
have lost connectivity between systems on a local network. I'd not
considered this a misconfiguration by the administrator who configured
filtering based on ethertypes.

If some devices require IPv4 and the administrator has control over
some other devices and disabled IPv4 on them (as I did on my
workstation), you have lost connectivity between systems on a local
network. Again, I'd not considered this a misconfiguration by the
administrator who disabled IPv4 on devices which are managed.
