Global entry still uses your passport for air travel, but you are in a database. They do add a sticker to the passport to let you go to the head of the line if the kiosk is down. The global entry cards are for ground and sea travel. The cards are also another legal US federal identification, but nobody accepts them because they uncommon.

NEXUS needed the passport and the NEXUS card today, but it saved an hour at immigration and security. Did not expect the 35 minute delay to check a bag at YVR today. NEXUS has saved me more than an hour on an entry to Canada, but the line was short this time.

This was a great venue and I hope we are back soon.

Ralf,

I am not a US citizen either. You can apply for Global Entry if you
live in the US permanently and you will then be using the green card
instead of passport to enter. Bonus is no more oval entry stamps in
your passport eating up pages.

Ole
