Thanks, Andrew

Fully agree with the sentiment. I do not consier the in-room changes i was
proposing as dumbing down.

- In large, full rooms i more than once had to choose beetween squeezing
myself into the full front or use my notebook so i could read slides.

- In full rooms, getting to/from the microphone line is also a lot of churn,
especially for those who didn't think about it upfront and reserved themselves
  seats on the aisle.

- Note taker always have a hard time identifying line speakers unless
they are very familiar with everybody.

- WG chairs already need to exercise room control when the side
discussions in the microphone line beome a problem

Aka: there is a lot more quaint about our traditional room setup than
really useful. But we could not expect that everybody has a notebook
with microphone/camera/headset in the past. We can now.

Lets at least experiment with such setups and evaluate.

Cheers
    toerless

Yet i did hear it repeatedly as a suggestion from other IEF'er that had to atend remotely even before covid.

If it merely replicates remote attendance then you need to consider whether it is worthwhile people spending additional money to travel to a location in order to attend the meeting if they can have the same functionality and basic experience whilst attending remotely.
