    The Thai embassy had a different opinion. They sad a conference
      is business, not tourism. Maybe I should not have asked. :-(

      At least for us Hungarians there is. For tourists we do not
        need a visa, but for ANY business we do need a non-immigrant
        visa. 

        You might get away with visiting as a tourist, but I tried to do
        the correct thing.
