As Barbara mentioned elsewhere, they nixed the newcomers reception b/c they had good data that showed it was not useful to newcomers (or much less useful than the speed mentoring was).

However, this thread was a spin-off based on recognizing that it *was* effective time use for non-newcomers and that we should try and keep that part around somehow, rather than just saying "use the reception instead".
