Yes, the IID length would change *for generating a SLAAC address*, but this can easily be without use of DIP switches. It changes dynamically, with a new prefix length offered in the RA.

The link local address of that interface does not need to change, of course. The link local address can continue to have its 64-bit IID. It would just no longer be the case that the IID of the LLA, and the IID of the SLAAC address, would necessarily be identical. Although depending how IIDs are generated, you might end up with the lower bits of the IID being identical.
