Note, however, that classification of sexist behaviors is subjective, and US views needn’t be universally accepted/acceptable around the globe. Also, I think the term “misogyny” that was used in this thread is completely inappropriate for this case. From Wikipedia: Misogyny is the hatred or dislike of women or girls.

Yes, it might be good to articulate rules or protocol for such events so that nobody can feel offended, but it is equally important to be reasonably tolerant to cultural differences.
