Nothing would, but I would like to look closer at this for a while.

Do you think one needs to root-risk an iPhone before one could add an IP 
address to its interface?

(root-risking is a special operation during boot time whereby one needs 
a special code from hardware manufacturer, one is asked to agree to the 
risk of 'rooting' the device, responsibility; this is a make-or-break 
operation; the device is expensive, so money is at risk - if the 
operation does not succeed, then the iPhone may die entirely, no way to 
recover.)
