Scott, John — thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I’ll try to figure out a better way to get my point across next time.

I appreciate the substance of Mike’s points and I welcome his continued substantive contributions. I expect to have a couple of my own responses shortly, perhaps in connection with some notes from the IAB. I should have included that information in my prior mail.

I believe we can all have constructive discourse, even about a subject such as this, without having postings that even arguably fall into the “inappropriate” category designated in RFC 3005. Perhaps I am sensitive to this because I spent years being terrified of sending email to this list out of fear of being demeaned in public. 

I’ll keep working on how to thread this needle better within the confines of RFC 3005.
