Which is a very big trouble, especially for IoT. If the cloud is down, you can't access your own devices even if you're at home. Crazy!

Even worst. If the cloud of the device vendor, or the cloud itself, goes to bankrupt, you throw away all those devices ..., never mind how much money you spend on that - times number of customers of those devices ...

Of course, this is a very different topic, and only possible solution is probably regulation. If you want to sell in the EU, you must publish an open API so in case you "fail", open source or third parties can develop solution to avoid so much waste.

Anyway, there are other apps that don't work or will work with clouds.

Apps today are "https to cloud" anyway, which is very NAT friendly.
