Not to mean to offend anybody, but let's do some exercise.

Hotels in Asian Hub cities, like Beijing, Tokyo, and Seoul are expensive, as
was noted as a reason making it difficult to come there. Say, US or EU (with
high average income level or rich company) pay $300 per night.

Would this pain be more unbearable than that CN or KR people (with much
lower company budget or income level) having to pay $200 per night in NA or
EU?

(BTW, since when has this been? In the past, the reverse was true...)

What's so wrong about some US friends sometimes having to expend more than
they can afford when the other parties have had to do the same for most of
the times?

Or what's so wrong about US friends sometimes having to make extra hop local
flights in Asian countries for cheaper venues when multiple hops to many US
and EU cities from NEA cities are a norm?

If it's wrong.. then, perhaps the only remaining logic is that the IETF
meeting is simply such a prestigious meeting that whoever has to suffer has
to suffer.

Hope more people start thinking the continent they're living is not the end
of the world. The globe is much larger out there and diverse.
