Having worked extensively on the planning for Hiroshima I can say with
some amount of certainty that when it came to travel options, way too
many folks ignored the advise found at http://hiroshima-info.info (my
webpage) or http://www.ietf76.jp/ (host webpage) which was:

* Fly to Osaka (KIX). Take the airport train to Shin Osaka and the
  Shinkasen from there to Hiroshima.

Lots of complaints resulted from long layovers at Narita for the one
daily flight from there, transfers to Haneda for domestic flights, or
even required overnight hotel stays, when all of that could have been
(mostly) avoided.

The inter-modal change seems to be a huge obstacle for Americans, it's
a fact of life for Europe and Asia. Not sure what we can do about that
beyond taking more places off our potential venue list.

Ole
