Joe,

A lot of people drove from more than 6 hours away.  The plane flights with the stop from Boston were 4.5-5.5 hours air time so driving was slightly faster from Boston or for anyone that would have used Logan airport.  The time would be about the same for anyone that would have flown out of Providence RI and maybe Hartford CT.  I drove but did so partially for the scenic drive through northern Maine (much better than VT and NH highways).

Regardless of whether people drove from Boston or not, ability to drive to the venue from New England should not be criteria for picking an IETF.
